Description
The Burkii Eastern Redcedar (Juniperus virginiana ‘Burkii’) is a narrow, pyramidal evergreen known for its fine-textured, soft blue-green foliage that shifts to a striking purplish-bronze in winter. A selection of the native Eastern Redcedar, Burkii retains the species’ hardiness, adaptability, and drought resistance, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance landscapes.
Growing 15-25 feet, this tree provides year-round color, structure, and screening. Unlike some junipers, Burkii produces minimal fruit, reducing mess and maintenance. It thrives in full sun and adapts well to a wide range of soils, including poor, rocky, and dry conditions. Its dense foliage and compact form make it ideal for windbreaks, privacy barriers, and specimen plantings in both residential and commercial landscapes.
