Description

The Espresso™ Kentucky Coffeetree (Gymnocladus dioicus ‘Espresso’™) is an improved, seedless cultivar of the classic Kentucky Coffeetree, offering a striking winter silhouette, enormous compound leaves, and exceptional urban adaptability. This deciduous shade tree has a spreading, open canopy, making it an ideal shade provider for large landscapes.

In spring, the tree’s bright green, fern-like foliage emerges, creating an airy, tropical effect. These large bipinnate leaves provide light dappled shade, allowing grass and plants to thrive beneath them. Unlike the species variety, Espresso™ does not produce seed pods, making it a low-maintenance choice for city and home landscapes. As autumn arrives, the leaves turn a brilliant golden-yellow, creating a warm seasonal display. In winter, its strong, twisting branches and deeply ridged bark stand out, adding architectural interest to the landscape.

With high drought resistance, adaptability to poor soils, and strong disease resistance, Espresso™ Kentucky Coffeetree is a long-lived, durable tree that thrives in urban, suburban, and park settings.
