Princeton Sentry is a male selection of the ancient maidenhair tree, introduced by Princeton Nurseries in 1967. It keeps the distinctive fan-shaped leaves and glowing fall color of the species in a tight, upright column that fits where a full-size ginkgo will not.
It reaches about 40–50 feet tall and 15–20 feet wide, matching your listing size of 50×20. Branches stay stiffly upright, forming a slender pyramidal crown that stays narrow with age. The leaves are leathery, two-lobed fans that flutter in the breeze—bright green in summer, then a uniform golden yellow in fall that is spectacular when backlit. They hold for weeks, then drop quickly in a single golden carpet.
Because it is male, it produces no fruit—no foul-smelling, messy seeds like female ginkgos. It is one of the toughest urban trees available: drought-tolerant, salt-tolerant, and nearly pest- and disease-free once established.
